JUBA: Africa Liberal network has invited South Sudan Liberal Youth Forum (SSLYF) to attend the Policy Development Workshop, hosted by the Ethiopian Democratic Party at the Intercontinental Hotel in Addis Ababa, on Saturday 5th May, Sunday 6th May and Monday 7th May.
SSLYF President Simon Achien Majur is scheduled to attend the workshop.
According to the information about the workshop provided on the invitation letter addressed to SSLYF President, The workshop is an opportunity for participants to positively contribute to the development of liberalism and help to develop a new ‘Liberal Manifesto for Africa’. This will build on the Johannesburg Declaration, on which the ALN was founded, and incorporate liberal policies and ideals from across the region. It will also consolidate the work begun by the ALN President, Dr Lamine Bâ, who recently collaborated with Louis Michel MEP, former Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs and EU Commissioner for Development, to outline the principles of liberalism in Africa.
Ultimately, we hope that participants will return with inspiration for new liberal ideas
which can be introduced into future manifestos and which will form the basis
or positive messages and campaigns.
Furthermore, through sharing experiences with counterparts from across the region and with UK experts, we hope that the participants will be able to improve their respective parties’ policy-making process by identifying best practice in policy development. We intend to compile these recommendations into a handbook to be used as a resource for member parties across the network.
Finally, the ALN sees this meeting as an opportunity to promote greater awareness of
liberalism in Ethiopia, a cradle of African civilisation and the second most populous country on the continent. As such, we intend to organise a public meeting with Ethiopian civil society and journalists, at which delegates will be able to share a platform with important figures from our hosts, the EDP.
SSLYF leadership in a consultative meeting between the President Simon Achien, Vice
President Bidali Henry and Secretary General Peter Kuot agreed that we be represented by our President Simon Achien so as to get introduced to the ALN for the first time as SSLYF President.

Dear fellow members of SSLYF in The United States, I want to greet all in the name of the Republic of South Sudan. Please allow me to share this donation request with you.
